Following the yearly commemoration of World Blood Donors Day slated for every 14th June, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Oyo Ilaqa has donated a total of 64 pints of blood.
The donation exercise, held on 14th July, 2018 at the National Blood Transfusion Service, South-West Zone Premises, Total Garden, UCH Road, Ibadan, put the Islamic group ahead in the beautiful voluntary service to save lives by youths between the ages of 15 and 40 years.
Speaking on the exercise, the Acting Coordinator, Mrs Oyinsola Adeleke, appreciated the Islamic group for their constant service.
In his response, the State Qaid, Bro. Abdul Hakeem Awe gives thanks to God for the benefit bestowed on him and other members of his group to have followed the true and pristine teachings of Islam on welfare and also working in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam and the Founder of their parent group, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
However, the 64 pints were collected from members from only 3 Districts viz: Ibadan, Akinyele and Apata, out of 11 Districts in the state.
The National Blood Transfusion Service, South-West Zone said in one of its comments that regular voluntary blood donation reduces risks of heart, liver and kidney diseases, obesity and strokes.
