By Abdur Roqib Akinyemi
Members of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Ojodu District have paid a courtesy visitation to the former Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, Dr. Mashhud Adenrele Fashola at his residence at Ibadan.
The District Qaid, Bro. Abdur Roqib Akinyemi with other 11 people including the District Zaiq Atfal visited Dr. Fashola Sahib, who served as Amir between 2004 and 2019.
The former University Don welcomed the visitors with excitement and requested for prayers for a quick recovery from illness.
In his introductory speech, Bro Akinyemi noted that the former Amir was a former Sadr MKA-Nigera who lived an exemplary life as a youth and continued as a man worthy of emulation as an Ansar. On this, he advised youth to emulate his dutifulness to Allah and service to humanity.
While responding, Dr. Fashola Sahib appreciated the visitation just as he thanked Allah for their safe journey and prayed that Allah would grant them safe journey back home.
He admonished the youths to emulate Prophet Isa (as) and Prophet Muhammad (saw), noting that there might be storms, trials and tribulations on their way to progress but as youths, they must stay firm with God’s commandments at all times.
He narrated the trials Prophet Isa (as) faced in his youth age as an homeless man and was never tempted by materialism despite the challenges. He also mentioned the story of a wealthy man that came to Prophet Isa (as) and asked what he could do to be a good person. The Prophet answered: keep the commandments of God. While asking how, he told the man to give to the poor and be good to them. The rich man was nasty and left. Prophet Isa (as), despite being homeless at that time and in need of home, foods and camel to carry on his mission as a Prophet, didn’t get carried away to call him back and ask for his help.
“As youths, you may have certain things that may want to divert your attention from the cause of God but you must be steadfast,” the former Amir stressed.
He also stated that Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) faced many challenges. He was tempted to be given wealth and denounce his claim as a prophet which he declined. They then resolved to torment him to frustrate his mission. Despite all these challenges, the Prophet never for once gave us.
Prophet Muhammad (saw), after 23 years of prophethood and the completion of the Holy Qur’an, would have chosen to enjoy this world if there was anything good about it. But he died as the enjoyment of the hereafter is better than that this world.
The Associate Professor, in the light of his narration, advised the youths to be the best examples in all good things and choose the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as their role model. While reciting the verse of the Holy Qur’an that says: If you love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful, he said that to earn the full pleasure of Allah, one must follow the Prophet and abide by all the commandments of Allah without exception.
He also noted that in many countries he has been to, MKAN members do stand out excellently among equal. He then advised members to maintain that standard across all levels.
The Dil’a Qaid then presented a gift to him. This is a photo frame which contains a few pictures he took when he visited Ojodu Circuit last year January as Amir.
