Lagos Ahmadi Muslim Youth feeds over 400 pupils in Snacks for Thought initiative as Akinyele Organizes Inter Muqami Quiz Competition

More than 400 pupils have been fed by Member of Ahmadi Muslim Youths Organisation (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya) in the Snacks for Thought: A Lagos State Government Initiative, at St. John’s Anglican Aroloya primary school Lagos Island, between 20th and 24th January, 2020.

The office of Lagos state Civic Engagement led by the special adviser to the governor on Civic Engagement Princess Aderemi Adebowale launched the Lagos state government feeding project for primary schools tagged Snacks for Thought.

The pilot which runs for five days fed over 11,000 primary school pupils in 32 schools on Lagos Island. The program is aimed at providing motivation for the pupils to stay in class, learn with filled bellies, and to avoid a life of crime.

In her remarks, Princess Adebowale said: “We believe that it is easier for children to concentrate in class when they have eaten. That’s why we are doing this. We want them to face their studies, stay in school, and avoid a life of crime”.

The representative of MKAN Lagos at the event Mr Muhammad Kolade who led a team of 5 and coordinated the program at St. John’s Anglican Aroloya primary school Lagos Island altogether fed over 400 hundred pupils. He sends a daily report of activities to the office of the civic engagement and was awarded a golden certificate of a volunteer as a coordinator by the permanent secretary office of civic engagement Lagos State.

In another development, Ahmadi Muslim Youths (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya) Akinyele District organized the year 2020 Inter Muqami Quiz Competition on 01 February, 2020.

This Quiz competition was simply a preliminary, and a platform to select the best candidate(s) that will represent the District at the State final.

The Quiz competition was coordinated by the Akinyele District Quiz Master, Bro. Salaudeen Ismaheel.

The event was staged into three(3) categories; the Basic Classes (Pri.1-6); Mid-Secondary (JSS1-3) and Senior Secondary category (SS1-3).

The contestants were tested on the following subjects namely: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Account, Economics, Commerce, Islamic Studies, Basic Tech & Science respectively.

However, the following contestants emerged at the end of the contest; Basic classes (primary category); Dhikrullah Amatul Mannan (45 points), Adelegan Abroor Ahmad (40 points), Oguntoyinbo Khalid (36 points); Mid-secondary (JSS category); Olaniyan Abdul-Sabur (45 points), Alowonle Abdulsamad (42 points) and Olaniyan Amatur-Rahman (41 points); Senior school category Science: Olabamiji Muhiz (36 points) and Olopade Samad (33 points); Commercial: Ajimoti Fawaz (82 points) and Adelegan Nadeeratul-Naheem (78 points); Art: AbdulGafar AbdulMuhiz (50 points) and Olabamiji Muzaffar (43 points) respectively.

A total of fourty-three (43) Male and Female children were in attendance.

  1. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it
    to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.

    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
