Lagos Ahmadi Youth joins ASJEV to mark 2020 World Social Justice Day

Members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya), Lagos State have joined the group ‘Advocacy for Social Justice and Ethical Values Initiative’ (ASJEV) to celebrate 2020 World Social Justice Day held at Ostra Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos on 20th February, 2020.

The event, themed “Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice”, was organised by Advocacy for Social Justice which focuses on the bane of social injustice throughout the world and its solutions.

The keynote speaker, Prof. Lai Olurode who delivered a lecture on “Social Justice is the key to Sustainable Development” said that social justice is not a reality, and instead of focusing on social justice, we should be in search of ending social injustice.

The Professor of Sociology said that the key to social development and best investment to transform a society is education.

He related his speech to some quotations from Yoruba traditions, Proverb 31:8 and Qur’an 4: 135 which demand for justice for children, parents and people as a whole.

He advised that parents should sensitize their children on social justice, while religious institutions should join in improving social justice and engaging their people of alms giving as an act of bridging the poverty gap in the country.

A representative of Lagos Majlis, Bro. Ismail Rotimi Lawal, in his speech, informed the people that the beliefs and efforts of Ahmadi Muslim Youth Organization towards social justice are in tandem with the goals and objectives of the sittings.

He thereafter asked the lecturers what they were doing to end social injustice in the country which the lecturers responded to positively.

Ahmadi youths that represented Ahmadi Muslim Youth Organization (Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya) at the event were; Missionary. Abdul Kabeer Folorunsho, Bro Idris Bello, Bro Tahir Nafiu, Lukman Abdul Warith, and Bro Ismail Rotimi Lawal.

Dignitaries at the event include: Mrs. Jokotola Ojosipe-Ogundimu, Founder/Coordinator of ASJEV; Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, able represented by Mrs Biola Oshoye; Mr. Arthur-Worry Fola, former Lagos State Solicitor-General; Dr. Femi Olugbile; Mr. Odewayowa Emmanuel and members of various youth organisations, among others.
