At least 325 members attended the annual National Workshop of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya, Nigeria (Ahmadi Muslim Youth Organization) held virtually on 11th July, 2020.

The workshop, which is regularly held every year to train MKAN National Officers on MKAN structure, organogram, ethics, Khuddam uniform, and code of conduct, was held virtually owing to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting people around the world.

The 2020 MKAN Workshop was tagged “Ideal Muslim Home” to address marital issues and build successful relationships and happy homes as Muslims.

MKAN National President, Engr. Saheed Aina, in his welcome address, mentioned that the theme of the workshop was chosen to address home-related issues that are prevalent in some homes before and during the pandemic period.

The Sadr Sahib said that many MKAN activities have been canceled because of coronavirus, but the workshop was held virtually to make better of our society.

The guest speaker, Dr. Saheed Olurotimi Timehin, Department of Foreign Languages, Lagos State University (LASU) did justice to the theme of the workshop with his exposition and analysis.

The erudite scholar defined home as a place of residence, a dwelling-place used as a permanent or semi-permanent residence for an individual, family, or household. It typically has areas and facilities for sleeping, preparing food, eating, and hygiene.

Dr. Saheed Olurotimi Timehin gave a detailed lecture on how to build a home, Muhammad: A model for all time and types of marital relationship – wounded love, conflict love, passive-congenial love, complete love, and Islamic love.

His words: “It is the responsibility of the husband to provide shelter, clothing for the family, while it is also the responsibility of the wife to take care of children, property of the husband and family.”

The lecturer also warned that women should not go into matrimony with an abusive man unless they are convinced that he has changed.

The lecturer provided satisfactory answers to questions regarding the home issues, distance relationship, and relationship abuse, among others.

A group of panelist: Hafiz Abdul Ghaniyy Shobambi, Mubaligh Silsila Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria; Muallim Sulayman Ogunkanmi, Senior Lecturer, Jamia Mubashireen, Ilaro; Dr. Taofeek Sanni, Senior Registrar, Department of Community Medicine, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti; Dr. (Mrs) Basirat O. Dikko, Department of Education, Faculty of Guidance and Counselling, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State and Bro Bashirudeen Oyetunji, National Rishtanata Secretary, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria had a discussion on Managing our Home: Islamic perspective.

They discussed different issues on managing work and family, the process of matchmaking in the Jama’at, and the effect of a husband sharing his responsibility with his wives.

Besides 325 members logged in their devices to attend the meeting, many members in their localities also came together to attend the workshop while observing the social distancing.
